Art and Space
When viewing the videos this week and seeing all the artwork something that really stood out to me was seeing NASA art work. Specifically the gallery made to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mission, which there gallery was called "The Moon As Art", in this collection the one that stood out to me the most was the one below. Its just so amazing seeing how beautiful this looks, and just knowing that this is data that was gathered by scientist but it just looks so much like some digital art is absolutely amazing. It's interesting to see this combination of art and science through these pictures.
Something else that I found really interesting was this website on cosmic dancers, which is a space art intervention by Arthur Woods. I loved going through the page and seeing the different ways he interprets artwork and how he adds that onto space. Such as the picture below seeing the green figure float in mid air along with him is just so interesting to see it viewed as art, where as some people may just view this as a picture of an astronaut, he's turning into art and a way of expression.

Hi Alexsa!!
ReplyDeleteI love your post this week and completely agree on how interesting the NASA art was!! I think getting to see these art forms that are actually real and taken from samples of things we see daily, but look so scientific and nearly abstract is really interesting! It reminds me a lot about our nanotech week and how our perception of the world and the universe itself is changing with modern technology and innovation!! Also, it really reminds me of our first week as well learning about the overlap between art and science… especially similar to the picture you chose of the moon art! :)
