 Luke Shannon DESMA 9 Lecture

During this event Luke Shannon presented on his projects using coding to make digital art. He demonstrated his art work such as these seen below.

The one to the left, that contains the lines was one of the ones that I found so interesting because within the coding he can input so that the lines do not overlap. He explained how he actually cut this paper out and although it was all torn apart, because the lines didn't overlap it did not separate. I found the development of this and how the code can so dramatically change the painting was so interesting. It also demonstrated how easy it would be to change something you may not like or enjoy about the piece by simply rewriting or deleting a line of code, where rather in the real world it would be much harder or impossible to change an existing painting in that matter without having to start all over. The painting on the right he explained to be one of his favorite techniques to do, I completely agree with this. I thought this art work was absolutely beautiful and to me if I was just looking at it I wouldn't have known that it was digital work, because of how detailed it is displayed as. Overall, it was so interesting to see how he uses code to make art, it demonstrates topics discussed in class such as how to make art in different ways, one of my favorite would be with robots which also includes code, however this digital artwork was also very interesting. I would recommend this event because it was really interesting to see all that he has created.
